A shoebox filled with design

In 2013, Autobahn was asked by Choi’s Gallery (CN / USA) to design an overview of the works that Autobahn made from 2006-2013. When we have (internship) applications, we always tell people that we would like to see "a shoe box portfolio full of designs, sketches and found material". We then pour the contents out on a table and by association create new connections between different projects. So we had to follow our advice when designing this publication.

The book comes in a small "shoe box" and the layout is made in 3 stages: we first designed a layout on the computer, we then printed all pages, manipulated them and photographed them and finally we placed the photographs back in the layout on the computer. Because in a shoebox everything gets mixed up, there is no logical sequence to the projects in the book. This design method symbolises the layered and material work of Autobahn.
